This gem comes in a rainbow of shades and gets its name from the Singhalese words ‘tura mali’ which roughly translates as ‘mixed in colours’. The citirine is named after, yes, the lemon (French ‘citrin’) because of its colour which ranges from pale yellow to a dark amber that’s almost red.
